Do Vaccines Increase Infant Mortality?
Vaccine hysteria seems to be at an all-time high. From countless logical fallacies in the discussion to physicians who threaten to have your children taken from you if you don’t vaccinate at the regularly-scheduled rate. It’s getting out of control.
Let’s be clear, most vaccines work very well at eliminating the contagious disease they are designed to immunize against. I don’t think that’s in question. What is in question is whether the side effects to vaccination are bad enough to limit vaccinations, and there are clearly severe side effects, especially for infants. Different vaccines have been linked to conditions as widespread as encephalopathy, Guillain-Barré paralysis, and SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome).
The point of vaccines is to help protect kids (as well as society as a whole). But while vaccines help guard against communicable diseases, they cause harm in other ways. Two particularly damning studies recently have shown that the United States has the highest vaccination rate in developed countries, but also has some of the worst infant health. There is a clear correlation between doses of vaccines and hospitalization rates for infants:
The study also found that the mortality rate increased with vaccination doses as well:
The rate ratio (RR) of the mortality rate for 5–8 vaccine doses to 1–4 vaccine doses is 1.5 (95% CI, 1.4–1.7), indicating that the mortality rate of 3.6% (95% CI, 3.2–3.9%) associated with low vaccine doses is statistically significantly lower than 5.4% (95% CI, 5.2–5.7%) associated with higher vaccine doses (Table 4).
Another study came to the same conclusion:
The fact that this isn’t being publicized more is a crime against humanity.
Our findings show a positive correlation between the number of vaccine doses administered and the percentage of hospitalizations and deaths. Since vaccines are given to millions of infants annually, it is imperative that health authorities have scientific data from synergistic toxicity studies on all combinations of vaccines that infants might receive. Finding ways to increase vaccine safety should be the highest priority.

- Relative trends in hospitalizations and mortality among infants by the number of vaccine doses and age, based on the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS), 1990–2010
David Gorski wrote a critique of the first of these studies. Here is the critique of that critique: Vaccines and Infant Mortality
